We regret that due to the Covid-19 pandemic the miniature railway was unable to open to the public during 2020. We will keep the situation under review and hope return to normal later in 2021 as soon as we are able to do so safely. The current government advice on social distancing would unfortunately limit us to one passenger on each coach but they would still be too close to the driver and guard. In addition most of the volunteers who run the railway are elderly and in the more vulnerable category and we do not want to place them at risk. We need to safeguard both our passengers and our staff.
We will have a backlog of work to do on the track and the trains once the lockdown is eased before we can run the railway safely. We hope to be running some of our trains in the spring for test purposes and to maintain our drivers and guard’s familiarity with the rules of the road.
We hope you will understand our position. We will be back just as soon we have caught up with our maintenance and the risks associated with Covid-19 make it possible.
